What does Mindful Occupational Therapy Practice look like as we enter 2025?

Mindful Occupational Therapy Practice delivers personalised online therapy sessions. It’s an holistic therapy for mental health management, chronic pain & fatigue management and supporting mental, physical & emotional wellbeing.

I’ve been working behind the scenes to slowly build up my practice and as we begin the new year of 2025, I feel now is the right time for me to put myself and my new venture fully out there.

I love the work I do, I’ve got many years of clinical experience in the NHS and worked with many wonderful clients along the way, enabling me the true honour of standing in their shoes as best I can, learning from them, understanding them, hearing them, seeing them, validating their experiences……I hope I may continue this journey, doing what inspires me & supporting people in their recovery pathway towards living their lives more fully….

here’s a description of what my Practice is all about:

It’s a creative integration of Occupational Therapy & Mindfulness, underpinned by an intention of supporting people to learn & understand more about themselves, their pain, their fatigue, their mental health needs, and the challenging interactions on their mental, physical & emotional wellbeing.

By learning more about ourselves we can support a greater understanding of our responses, our reactions, our relationship with our health challenges, our pain & suffering, whether this be mental, physical or emotional.
We can build an understanding of our unique way of engaging, relating & connecting with daily life, and with the world around us.

It’s about learning more about what helps, what isn’t so helpful, and how you can start to build helpful shifts, practices, concepts & strategies into your lives.
It's about interweaving self-compassion into your daily experiences to support helpful shifts and intentions for change.

Working alongside personal values and what has meaning for each unique person, you’ll be supported in building confidence to embrace your own path, moving towards personal recovery aspirations & a sense of hope for living life more fully.

the intentions of my Practice are supporting people towards:

-living more fully alongside health challenges of fatigue, pain, chronic stress, depression & anxiety

-managing the impact on physical health, mental health & emotional wellbeing

-easing the interplay of chronic stress, overwhelm & burnout on the mind & body

the foundations & consistent themes of my Practice are supporting people with:

-understanding more about themselves, their patterns of thinking, feelings, behaviour, motivations, drives, challenges, barriers, aspirations

-understanding more about their unique way of engaging, relating, connecting with daily life & with the world around them

-imbuing this through a subtle & sometimes not so subtle interweaving of self-compassion, supporting relationships with themselves, their lives & how they engage in the world around them

-moving towards a sense of empowerment for embracing their own path

-imbuing a sense of hope for living life more fully, supporting their engagement in personal recovery pathways

-engaging in lives that have meaning for them. aligning with their values and aspirations for how they want to live

how my sessions help people to live more fully:

-this is through an in-depth exploration of the patterns of activity, behaviour & overall engagement in daily life, how we show up in our daily lives, and the inter-relationship of all the interactions, roles, routines, challenges, responsibilities that can make up our day, giving us so much valuable information for each individual

-we can then begin to build an understanding of any patterns of reactivity, thoughts, emotions, behaviours, alongside patterns of resistance in our mind & body

-this helps to enhance an awareness of what can increase our symptoms & suffering, towards an understanding of the things we’re doing that aren’t so helpful

-this also helps to build an understanding & enhanced awareness of strengths, values, what has meaning to each individual

-bringing awareness and an enhanced understanding of what helps (even just a little to begin with), the sessions support how we can then build on beneficial practices, strategies, skills, knowledge & education through an integration of interventions, such as:

-Mindful therapy techniques, mindfulness concepts & meditation practices for managing pain, fatigue, stress, mental health needs & supporting mental, physical & emotional wellbeing

-Personalised emotional regulation techniques, strategies & practices supporting mental & emotional wellbeing for the mind & body

-Lifestyle management supporting engagement in life through sleep hygiene, adapting & building on routines, changing habits, activity management, creative pacing strategies, energy conservation, energy management

-Building on shifts in behavioural patterns and supportive intervention for adapting to change

-Building on personalised programmes for mindfulness in daily life, supporting helpful rhythms, mind-body connection & co-regulation for mind & body

-Support with building on personalised self-management practices & strategies for ongoing management of pain & fatigue symptoms, managing stress & mood challenges towards fostering mental, physical & emotional wellbeing outside of the sessions

-Personalised home practices & resources to build on knowledge from each session, supporting self-reflections and learning opportunities
